The Oxford Hotel offers a unique and historic experience in the heart of Denver’s LoDo district, providing excellent walkability and access to attractions. Guests consistently praise its charming atmosphere, attentive service, and convenient location near Union Station. However, some recent reviews highlight concerns regarding cleanliness and customer service responsiveness.
The Oxford Hotel is a delightful LoDo find. We met friends here and their first question was “how did you find this place?” The location is hard to beat—right by Union Station, so you can park once and walk everywhere. Within a block are excellent options: ramen, a Brazilian steakhouse, and seafood, plus the 16th Street Mall is just down the street. The hotel itself has genuine charm. The Cruise Room off the lobby is a classic 1930s Art Deco bar and feels authentic rather than themed. Every staff member we encountered was pleasant and helpful. I also appreciated that they still provide daily room cleaning as standard service; many hotels have moved away from that. They offer a local shuttle as well, which helps in LoDo where light rail doesn’t reach every destination. Overall, The Oxford combines character, walkability, and attentive service—an easy choice if you want a distinctive Denver stay instead of a generic chain.
Amazingly cozy hotel and for those who appreciate history and quality this is the place! Located in the middle of LoDo with tons to do just within walking distance. Or you can have a relaxing time at the spa and have a delicious dinner at The Urban Farmer and call it a night early! The world is your oyster here!
My daughter and her boyfriend booked a room for New Year’s Eve. They both got the flu and couldn’t use the room. The hotel would not give them a refund or a credit. Okay. My wife and I decided to use the room, so the room and the money would not be wasted. The stay was fine. About an hour after we checked out, I realized I left my headphones in the room. I called the hotel, and they said they would check with housekeeping and let me know if they found them. I waited a few hours and called back. They said they were still waiting to hear from housekeeping. I waited until late afternoon the next day and called again. Same response. It is now three days later and I have yet to receive a call regarding whether they found them or not. They were not expensive so it is not a big deal monetarily, but the lack of response is. I work in the hospitality industry as well, and, if I had received a call about a missing item an hour after someone checked out, I would just go up to the room or send someone up there to check and call the guest back immediately. Obviously this did not happen. They also charged my credit card $284 on top of what my daughter paid for the room. I asked about the charge, and they said it was for the cancellation even though the reservation was never cancelled. They said most of that amount would be refunded to me except for about $80 for lodging fees, taxes, etc. I was surprised that was not charged at the time of the room payments. They said this was standard operating procedure. The charge is still there. The Oxford is a lovely hotel that we’ve stayed at before. I am disappointed by the customer service I’ve received after our latest stay. Update: It looks like they’re finally removing the additional charges. Still no contact from hotel.
This step back in time hotel was fabulous. It's a very old hotel but not lacking in amenities. It's old world charm and decor was very beautiful but decorated for Christmas was spectacular. Our room again had old decor but still very beautiful. My favorite though was their very own Speakeasy. The service was great and helpful...giving us pointers on places to visit being our first visit. The Doorman was just as helpful and fun! Im a Travel Agent and will definitely have The Oxford has my go to for my clients visiting Denver!
I loved this place! It's architecture, their own Speakeasy, to modern amenities. Its location to the train station and everything else made this the perfect spot! The front desk service & Doorman was above and beyond. As a Travel Agent, I will recommend this Hotel to anyone staying in Denver!
If I could give this hotel a 0 rating I would! I was in town for a business trip and choose this hotel due to the vicinity. Bad choice! I stayed 1 night in a planned 4 night stay. Valet parking did not retrieve my bags. It was pouring raining, they were very rude! When asked if I could check out early I was told yes and there would be no additional charge. Today I’m looking at 2 separate charges one for the first night and another for the other 3 nights I didn’t stay!!! Called and spoke to Andrew! Completely rude! Packs customer service! Told me his team would never say such a thing! Basically called me a flat out liar!!! Why would I check out knowing I’m going to be charged for all the nights? I would have definitely sucked it up! He claims he spoke to the man who told me I would not be charged and he said he doesn’t recall the conversation. That is a fitting line when someone is not honest! I wonder if he recalls telling me the hotel and racist and I should leave! Umm ? Also, the hotel temperature conditions were horrible! Completely freezing, doors had a two in gap so the draft was ridiculous and I had to put a towel under the door for privacy and comfort.
We had a great stay at the Oxford Hotel. The location is great and is a block from Union Station in LODO. Service from everyone we encountered was friendly, attentive and welcoming. The continental breakfast was better than most hotels that include breakfast, my only comment would be to include a few more gluten-free options (and label allergens). The highlight of the stay was the evening bourbon tasting in the lobby. I'm convinced we witnessed paranormal activity but that story is for another day. ;) The only con of the stay (and why I didn't give it a 5-star review) was one of our two rooms was not totally clean. There was a very dirty glass in the room, random hairs in the bathroom (in the sink and the tub) and carpet didn't seem vacuumed. The bedding seemed clean but for a 4-star hotel (and the price) cleanliness of the entire room is very important and what makes or breaks a stay. Overall, I would give the Oxford Hotel 1.5 thumbs up and would likely return given the opportunity.
Beautiful, historic hotel with lovely rooms full of character and friendly attentive service from everyone we spoke to. Lobby breakfast was high quality and plentiful, with lots of variety (smoked salmon, bagels, pastries, cold meat, yoghurt, fruit etc) - the perfect start to the day for us. Simply the best place to stay in Denver in my opinion. We would definitely visit again.
I was excited to stay in this historic hotel due to its location and history. However, I was disappointed in the level of service and temperature of room. Upon check in I requested a fan which didn't arrive till 6 hours later and 4 request. The room air conditioner did not work properly. Upon check out I was charged for an item in the mini bar area. After calling, it was refunded. I never touched the mini bar area, double check your charges?. The only great interaction was valet. Both of the gentlemen I encountered were both friendly and accommodating.
Amazing Service! The front door workers and desk personnel all did an amazing job answering questions and welcoming me. Comfortable Rooms! My room was clean, comfortable, and provided me with everything I needed. Best Location! This location is right down the street from beautiful Union Station, and close to many amazing restaurants! It felt like I was in the middle of everything in Downtown Denver. Overall Thought: An historic beauty of an hotel and it provided a very small, intimate vibe. This hotel is not only a historic gem in downtown of Denver, but is also surrounded by so many other historic sites.
