The TownePlace Suites by Marriott Denver Downtown offers a convenient location and kitchenette facilities, but receives mixed reviews regarding overall cleanliness, comfort, and some operational issues. Recent guests report inconsistent breakfast quality and concerns about dated room conditions and security in the surrounding area, alongside praise for friendly staff.
For as much as we paid for our room, we expected it to be a little nicer. The hotel is very basic, but you book here for the convenient location. The couch and chair in the room were old and dingy and stained. Why not just replace these items as needed when natural wear and tear happen? The bed was pretty comfortable. The staff was decent, not overly friendly, but not rude. They were all just there to do their jobs, I guess. No friendly "hi welcome in," no "enjoy your stay," and no, "thanks for staying with us." I guess hospitality is a dying thing in every industry. We did appreciate having the small kitchenette and fridge. At the end, they charged us a $50 tourism fee which were not previously disclosed and also a $45 parking fee. When we called they had originally told us, $25 for parking. There is a decent Weber Grill for guests to use, and they also offer a very basic breakfast. For ours, they served scrambled eggs, sausage and waffles. They also had cereal, bagels and English muffins along with coffee and juice. It was better than nothing, and a way to get a little bite to eat before checking out. Also, the hinge came off the bedroom door during our stay. Luckily we were not injured.
I really like this property for the location to my son's apartment. However It feels a bit unsafe in the area. I do appreciate the security onsite but that makes you feel leery. Speer Blvd is really loud on a Saturday night at 2am with drag racing and motorcycles. Not your fault but those are the things. First room smelled like cat pee but the front desk agent was sooooo accommodating to get me a new room. New oom on top floor, per my request, was great but Toilet wouldn't flush . I wish the price were a bit lower so I wouldn't have high expectations.
I’ve stayed here multiple times now. This hotel is great. The price is good. The rooms are so nice with a kitchen and everything you need to cook. The staff has always been fantastic to our whole group. My only sort of complaint is there is always at least 1 washing machines and/or dryers that are out of service but this is bound to happen and they’ve always been super helpful with this and even refunded me and helped me figure out which to use when I put change in an out of service one (not labeled well once and another time they didn’t know it wasn’t working). The location is great food wise. The hot breakfast has been hit and miss for me but it depends on your preferences, I’ve always been able to find something I’m ok with eating for breakfast. I find the beds comfortable.
The area surrounding this property is in a bit of a rough area. Many homeless population around the property. The room still has a slight smoke smell lingering I'm guessing from many years back when smoking was allowed. It didn't wreak of it but still noticeable. The room was comfortable, clean and conveniently located to many of the great areas in downtown Denver. Service was friendly.
We were here on April 4th & 5th. Kudos to Sarah, at the front desk, for the warm friendly manner in which she welcomed us. Even towards the end of her shift, she exuded energy and enthusiasm, which is remarkable. In the breakfast room, Salicia greeted all the guests cheerfully. I noticed that Salicia did not have to clean up any counters because she vigilantly maintained the cleanliness, promptly sweeping up every crumb and wiping off any drop of coffee or juice. All the counters and tables were consistently spotless. Single-handedly, she managed the breakfast room, replenishing the items in a timely manner. I applaud her for her diligence.
Rooms are decent- reflective of the price, not the best but you get what you pay for. Unfortunately they contract night time security-( possibly through a third party?) on a power hungry ego trip. The side door is broken so I went all the way around the long way and opened it up so I could carry up some things. As I was grabbing the large awkward boxes from my car the security came and slammed the door while watching me struggle. I explained I only needed to grab a couple things and he just shook his head no while glaring at me and mumbling under his breath. Apparently his little plastic badge went to his head and made him ruler of all that he surveys. Sad petty little man
Great stay. Fairly priced. Door left open after cleaning staff cleaned room even though we left DND hangar on the door. Daughters volleyball jersey item was left outside room in hallway. We were very lucky.
Clean spacious rooms, good breakfast, friendly desk staff and house keppers. The location is close to restaurants, grocery stores, and entertainment.
Had a nice stay at TownePlace Suites by Marriott Denver Downtown. The staff was very friendly, and I was pleasantly surprised by the breakfast — hot food options and Chobani yogurt were a nice touch. The in-room kitchen (with an oven and microwave) was super convenient. A couple of minor downsides: the water pressure in the sink and toilet was low, and the room felt a bit dated — the door didn’t lock properly due to misalignment. Overall, still a solid stay.
Just not what I was expecting from a Marriott property. Run down, fowl odor on main floor between lobby & elevators. Door to room and the bathroom was likely not even nice when new. However the staff was friendly and attentive.
