The Hotel Maxwell Anderson receives consistently positive reviews, highlighting its beautiful historic building, convenient downtown location, and friendly staff. Guests appreciate the spacious rooms and charming lobby, particularly the attached coffee shop and brew pub. However, noise levels and inconsistent cleanliness have been recurring concerns.
The best hotel I have ever stayed in, truly!!! Beautiful building, such kind staff, the rooms are stunning with amazing views! I booked a room with a mountain view and I stared out the window almost my whole stay. The coffee shop in the lobby, Wild Coffee, was SUCH a treat!! The staff there is so sweet and their coffee, matcha, and made to order breakfast burritos were so delicious. I can’t recommend Maxwell Anderson and Wild Coffee enough. I cannot wait to come back!!!
We definitely splurged on a two night stay and were very excited. We have been wanting to stay at this hotel for a long time. The location itself is perfect couldn't be better - we enjoyed walking to dinner at Pullman and all around downtown. 5 stars for location - it can't be beat! Everyone who worked there were very nice and helpful. My daughter scratched herself and needed a bandaid - they gave her three different kinds. 5 stars for hospitality - extremely nice people. The parking lot was amazing - we went in and out of there several times and really appreciated that it was included in the price. Loved the coffee shop and boutique inside the hotel. The hotel was beautiful and our room was very nice as well. However, we were right above the pub and it was VERY noisy. We had to door dash ear plugs because we couldn't sleep. Our bedroom looked out the the atrium and we were very disappointed by this as the pictures on the website did not show this. Our room was parallel to the elevator so people could look into our room and we kept our curtains closed the whole time - which made us feel claustrophobic. I also smelled a BO smell on my blanket and I think it was unwashed. We paid $676 for a two night stay and we ultimately do not feel it was worth that price.
The good thing about this hotel is the location. It's near so many restaurants that you can walk to easily. If you're into coffee there is a coffee shop connected to the lobby. Plus a brew pub called Glenwood Canyon Brew Pub that is also connected to the hotel lobby. If you're in town for the Glenwood adventure park or Iron mountain Hot springs they have discounted tickets available at the hotel front desk and online when you are booking a reservation. The parking is somewhat difficult but not impossible to find a spot to stay overnight. Most spots are 2 hour 9am-6pm spots. After 6 they're free for all for overnight parking. We came on a Friday and we were able to find parking everytime for our 2 night stay.if you're unlucky the hotel does offer paid parking. The walls are fairly thin and yes its true, you can hear mighty footsteps and rolling carts fly by through the door. My boyfriend once thought it was so loud he thought someone was about to come into the room. We stayed in the King bed suite. It was a decent size had a small closet to hang clothes, lots of drawers and very minimal space in the bathroom! You get your complimentary sample size shampoo, conditioner, body wash, a bar soap, 2 makeup wipes and lotion. *BONUS* you get two very nice robes to use (for no extra charge) hiding in the closet during your stay. Which we chose to use at the Hot springs! The bed- it was decently comfortable I would give it a 5/10. The pillows a 1/10. The pillows are extremely thin and poofy. If you live in colorado and coming to visit I'd suggest to bring your own pillow if you can! Others mentioned that the AC was extremely loud and I did not experience this at all in our room. It was easy to adjust the temp to our liking and no loud sounds. In conclusion, my partner and I stayed for 2 nights and thats the max that I would stay at this hotel. It was a cool historical experience but next time I will be staying at a different hotel. Staff was nice and friendly and helpful. Although renovated, the space in the bathroom lacked and the beds and pillows weren't up to my expectations, especially for what was paid.
Unwashed, dirty, towels; below bare minimum cleaning of hotel rooms; and paper thin walls is what you’ll be signing up for when booking a reservation at the Maxwell Anderson Hotel in Glenwood Springs, Colorado (video proof attached for reference). We had high expectations when booking our reservation here and we were highly disappointed. Although the hotel is charming, the rooms were not clean, the customer service at the front desk is below average and the housekeeping crew is the worst I’ve yet to experience. We slept in two different rooms, one being on the second floor, and the other on the fourth (top floor). When staying in the room on the second floor we experienced constant loud noises from the guest above us with children running back and forth, people rolling their suitcases on the wood floor, and slamming doors. I don’t know what it is about this hotel but sound carries - it may be because most of the flooring is wood and the doors to each room are prone to slamming. Be ready to hear any and all conversations had in the hallways or in any rooms attached to yours. When moving to the room on the fourth floor, there were crumbs all over the floor, on the desk, used and stained robes and towels that had not been changed out and random hairs on the toilet. Although I would not recommend you stay at this hotel, if you decide to, definitely get a room on the top floor. Make sure you check all towels and robes before using them. DO NOT assume ANYTHING is clean in your room. For the price they are charging, book an Airbnb, or pay less for a less “prestigious” hotel and get the same service with better standards of cleaning. The state in which the towels were in are so bad I will be contacting the local health department and filing a formal complaint in hopes they perform an inspection.
This is an amenity-lite hotel. While there are mini fridges, there is no microwave for guests whatsoever. There is no gym, pool, coffee, etc. Our beds were comfortable though other reviews are accurate. There is no sound proofing with the door so you can hear doors opening and closing. The AC/heating fan is very loud but we set it to "on" so it would not cycle on or off. Rooms were large and spacious which was nice though it really made you feel the absence of a microwave. Staff was nice.
Absolutely love this hotel! So welcoming and beautiful when you enter and the rooms are super spacious and comfy! Perfect location right downtown—walking distance to everything including Glenwood Hot Springs Resort. I love that they have a restaurant and coffee shop attached to the hotel! Parking isn’t great and should be offered in the booking vs a $20 separate fee.
This was a beautiful boutique hotel, with nods back to its original roots but plenty of modern comforts. Our family appreciated the large room, the decor in the lobby, and the super convenient coffee/breakfast shop and brewery downstairs. It’s pet friendly, clean, and very conveniently located to talk all over downtown Glenwood Springs. Thank you all, we will definitely stay here again!
We stay in Glenwood Springs 2-3 x per year with our dog and don't normally stay in a hotel because he's a big boy. However, this year I-70 closed and we weren't able to go home and needed a quick place to stay for one night while we waited to the freeway to open up. We were lucky enough to find this place and will ONLY come here from now on. I love it x 1000! Every moment of our time at the hotel was PERFECTION. The lobby is gorgeous, warm, and comfortable. The room was ginormous, clean, comfortable, and beautiful. Our room had 2 king beds with "historic views" lol-- that means windows to the lobby. But it was awesome & private. All the guests and staff love dogs--my dog had it just they way he wanted--getting lots of pets and attention. No matter who we met in the lobby my dog was warmly greeted and we felt so welcomed. I love this place. I'll be back!
Stayed the weekend of Nov 21st for 3 nights and we loved our stay here! Perfect location walking distance to everything in the area with ease. Everything was very clean and in great shape. Bed was very comfortable and the room was quiet and well appointed. Low water pressure would be my only issue by common in older buildings so no worries. Loved the history and finally the staff where always very nice. Will stay here again for sure.
We had a great time staying at the Hotel Maxwell Anderson. The front desk administrator, Esteban, went over and beyond taking care of us. Our room was very comfortable. The hotel furnishings were lovely. We enjoyed spending time in the lobby. The location of the hotel was excellent, we parked our car and walked everywhere for 3 days. We’ll definitely be back!
