Mt. Princeton Hot Springs Resort offers a relaxing getaway with natural hot springs, multiple pools, and cozy accommodations. However, recent reviews highlight inconsistencies in cleanliness, outdated facilities, and service issues, particularly concerning noisy neighbors and unresponsive staff. While many guests appreciate the scenic location and hot springs experience, some concerns regarding value and facilities upkeep are prevalent.
This was a wonderful experience. We were only passing through but wished we could have spent more time here. The natural hot springs is the main attraction. We visited in the winter which felt whimsical to lounge in a river with snow all around. The staff were all great from check in to navigating the hot springs. Very relaxing and a worthwhile experience. We stayed in a hillside room which was perfect for the night. We highly recommend a visit!
Visited in February on a snowy day. Decided on the lower priced day pass so didn't use the spa section. Two nice pools. Creekside pools were enjoyed by my husband. Friendly staff. Only downside was the showers. You have to hold the button the whole time. Also, lockers way overpriced
Our stay at Mount Princeton Hot Springs Resort was extremely disappointing from start to finish, which was especially upsetting given that this was supposed to be our Valentine’s Day getaway. The room was noticeably dirty — there was dirt, trash, and random debris under the bed, which made it clear housekeeping was not thorough at all. On top of that, some of the dishes provided in the room were still dirty, which is honestly unacceptable for a place charging resort prices. The hot springs themselves were also lacking basic comfort and amenities. None of the pools had benches to sit on, which made relaxing difficult, especially during longer soaks. This was a particularly big issue for us because my fiancé has arthritis and relies on having proper seating for comfort and support while using hot springs. The absence of benches significantly impacted his ability to enjoy the experience. There was also absolutely no shade anywhere around the pools. Every other hot springs property we’ve visited has at least some umbrellas or shaded areas, so this felt like a major oversight and made it uncomfortable to spend extended time outside. We also had a very poor overnight experience due to extremely loud and disruptive upstairs neighbors. There was constant noise, banging, and activity that made it difficult to relax or sleep. When we brought this to staff’s attention, they did not seem concerned and no meaningful effort was made to address the situation, which was frustrating and added to the feeling that guest comfort was not a priority. The gym experience was just as poor — it was not air-conditioned and the thermostat read 80°, making it unusable. A resort fitness facility should at minimum be climate controlled. What made the experience even more frustrating was how management handled the situation afterward. When we raised these issues, they refused to provide a full refund despite the condition of the room, disruptive environment, and lack of amenities. After going back and forth, we negotiated a partial refund — only to later be recharged the refund amount. This felt incredibly dishonest and left a bad taste after an already negative stay. Overall, between the cleanliness issues, missing amenities, disruptive noise, uncomfortable facilities, and poor customer service resolution, this was not the relaxing Valentine’s Day getaway we expected and we would not choose to stay here again. The best part of our experience here was when we left and stayed somewhere else the following night, we highly recommend Silver Ridge Lodge in Salida Colorado. They have a saltwater hot tub and have excellent customer service. I included some pictures of underneath the bed and one photo of one of the many dishes that had what looked like maybe dirt or coffee grounds in it, I should’ve taken pictures of the spatulas that had old food on them.
We spent a night in the creekside room for my birthday and had an amazing time! We had so much soaking time and the pools were so comfortable. We started our second day with a morning mobility class with Trish who was so fun and chipper! And we enjoyed lots of drinks from Leo at the smoothie bar, he has fantastic customer service and you can tell he likes what he does! Overall an awesome way to start my birthday ?
We stayed in a charming cabin nestled in the mountains, and the views were absolutely breathtaking. The cabin was cozy, spotless, and had everything we needed for a relaxing getaway. The staff at the resort were attentive and friendly, making check-in and our stay effortless. We only wish we had planned a longer visit to enjoy more of the hiking trails and hot springs nearby. This place is perfect for anyone looking to escape the city and unwind in a peaceful, scenic setting.
We enjoyed a nice stay at the hot springs resort for my birthday weekend. The service was good and accommodating, the hot springs themselves and the views were wonderful, the restaurant was decent. Lots of stuff to do. We love the Collegiates. Really enjoyed all the holiday tree lights as well. I would say my only complaint is that everything just seems very old and run down. I get that it IS an old and historic area, but the decor was very tired, and having all this old dingy carpet in the locker rooms was kind of gross. The shower tubs in the hotel rooms were a bit disappointing as well and we had a lot of trouble getting hot water for showers. I think some more modern renovations would really make the place shine.
Stunning views from our small cabin. It was clean, comfy, and well maintained throughout the resort. The staff were friendly and accommodating. I wished we would have spent another night to really relax before heading back to Denver for work. We highly recommend staying overnight at Mount Princeton.
Booked one of the large cabins for one night as a gift to share with out of town family. Overall a really nice experience. We enjoyed the mobility/water aerobics class with Trish in the morning! The setting is always lovely and the pools were nice. The cabin was a nice space and we enjoyed having a full kitchen and 2 baths. A good time was had by all! 4 instead of 5 stars because: There didn't seem to be much staff around, so we had to wait for towels once or twice. A couple of small things were not functioning which was just a minor inconvenience mostly. The stairs leading into the main bath house are a little steep and poorly lit at night which was particularly intimidating for the older members of our group. The path by our cabin down towards the pools was also poorly lit.
We were really excited for a romantic night out and booked the L’Amour package for dinner at the Mary Murphy Steakhouse and a private hot springs experience. Unfortunately, our visit did not meet expectations. When we arrived, there was very limited signage and lighting, which made it hard to navigate the property. Dinner was especially disappointing — we both ended up getting food poisoning afterward. For the price and reputation, we were expecting much better. After dinner, we headed to the hot springs and it just wasn’t what was advertised. The experience was supposed to feel private and romantic, but it didn’t feel intimate at all. When we got to the private pool area, the gate was closed and no staff were present. We had to call someone just to get in, which definitely took away from the experience. The changing rooms were also extremely unclean — there were dirty towels and even underwear left on the floor. It really affected the overall atmosphere and made us feel uncomfortable. We traveled from Florissant and spent a good amount of money for what we hoped would be a special night. Overall, we were very disappointed and don’t feel like the experience matched what was promised.
Stopped on a stay in Salida. Loved the massages. Sarah V. gave me one of the best Swedish massages I have ever had! And I have had a few. ? The hot springs day pass on the spa side was lots of fun. Don’t expect a 5 star spa, this place is more down to earth, which we appreciate. Next time we will bring a cooler with drinks and snacks plus our own robes and towels. Highly recommend! Oh, and no kids allowed on spa side but kids can go on public bath side where you can dip in the creek
