The Westin Denver Downtown receives mixed reviews, with some guests praising the excellent location and friendly staff, particularly those interacting with the concierge and valet teams. However, significant concerns exist regarding inconsistent service, cleanliness issues, and problematic experiences with the front desk and management. Several guests reported significant delays in room availability, poor housekeeping, and issues with amenities and fees.
I just had thee most AMAZING EXPERIENCE with Eric. He was at the bar on the second floor. I came in briefly on a break just to grab something to drink while volunteering downtown. Eric was SOO accommodating and attentive! He treated me like I was staying at the Westin. Excellent customer service. Genuinely nice. Im soo impressed I’ll be booking a staycation!! Thank you ERIC!! ??
Just wrapped up a 4 day stay, and overall I’m extremely satisfied. While I didn’t take photos, the hotel was clean and well taken care of. I’ll admit I was a little apprehensive after reading some recent reviews but my stay was great. Checking In: The front desk staff was welcoming and friendly. I was checked in and up to my room in around minutes total. The team greeted me every time I was in the lobby and remained very welcoming during my stay. Food: The food was really good, comparatively. Over the course of my stay I pretty much stuck to the hotel for meals. Breakfast was delicious, and there was a really nice variety for lunch and dinner. Hotel Staff: Everyone was extremely friendly and always helpful. I suspect the people that have cited issues with the staff probably just couldn’t handle a diverse group of people. The Room: My room was clean, and comfortable. Not sure what this location has done differently than others, but the bed was ridiculously comfortable. I’m normally a hotel bed complainer, but it was great. The bathroom was tidy and clean as well. Shower pressure was a little suspect but it did its intended job. Location: outside of the 30-45 minute ride to and from the airport, the hotel is well situated. There are plenty of restaurants, convenience stores, and entertainment nearby. There’s also a Starbucks right beside the hotel, which was a nice add. My only complaint: I was here for a conference and we were served some buffet style light snacks. One of the staff had apparently moved or removed some food as part of a breakdown process, and a manager was verbally berating him in front of MANY guests. I certainly understand that employees are held to a certain standard, but I found it incredibly unprofessional. Frankly the way he was speaking to the person, I would have found unacceptable even if they weren’t in front of guests. I did not get his name, but it just rubbed me the wrong way.
My wife and I were in town for stock show. During the day we visited the pool and it was cold. Suppose to be warm. That night we came back and my wife slipped on the floor from the water that leaked out from the shower. She accidentally broke the toilet seat. Next day we tell the front desk hey the toilet seat and they said they would get in touch. A few hours later I have a $1700 And some Change. - yes correct ONE THOUSAND SEVEN HUNDRED DOLLAR BILL FOR DAMAGES! I talk to the front desk and I was like this must be a mistake, they said they can not discuss the damage but it was so bad that they had to not fill the room and I was on the hook for damages and loss of revenue. They sent a picture of a glass door that was spidered but not broken and said I was responsible. That DID NOT HAPPEN while I was occupying this room. I have tried and tried to escalate this issue and keep getting the run around from loss prevention and the manager and even corporate. I am a Titanium member and spent 10s if not HUNDREDS of thousands - THIS IS A LAST DITCH EFFORT FOR MARRIOT TO MAKE THIS RIGHT
Unbelievably rude front desk. I will never stay at a westin again. Very unprofessional. Maybe train your staff to be accommodating? This is the service industry correct? Seems to me that your management for this property is lacking. For the price that is charged and the service that is given compared to other properties, this location falls so very short.
I believe it was one of my worst stays for this much money. I have following issues: 1. I have a reservation for 2 rooms in one reservation. I have been staying with children and for some reason I cannot get connecting rooms. Moreover, I got rooms on different floors. I was staying at Glenwood Springs CO previous two days – and everything was flowless comparing to your hotel in Denver 2. Front desk check-in gave me one room instead of two. I had to go back and ask manager to give me a second room 3. Check out process was terrible. Check in lady and check out man cannot speak English. It was very hard to communicate with them – they cannot even comprehend English alphabet. • I asked him to add this stay to my Marriott because he could not do it at the checkout time. I finally decided to collect points, and it was not successful. • Check out man was just simply rude while I ask for the water because another couple before my checkout on another computer water was offered. You need to fix your front desk issues.
Stayed here after arriving on a late flight into Denver at the end of October and wouldn't choose to stay here again. There were a number of issues with my stay and I gave feedback to the Marriott post-stay survey only for the ball to be dropped. 1) I'm a Titanium member (naturally I think I'm owed the world) and when I checked-in on the app before my flight, it showed I had been upgraded to a Premium room with a patio, sweet! Then strangely at check-in I was downgraded to a Deluxe with no patio. Not a big deal as I was only staying one night, but never good business to over-promise and under deliver. 2) They gouge customers $56/night for parking. I parked at an underground garage the next block over for $20 and they had a free EV charger. 3) This hotel charges a ridiculous $27 amenity fee - $31.25 after you add taxes. The existence of the amenity fee was disclosed when I booked, however, due to a glitch in the Marriott app the amount was not included in the estimated charges. The person from Westin customer service who contacted me was going to research the issue (I provided screen shots showing no amenity fee included in the estimated charges) and after three weeks I've gotten no follow up. 4) The "amenities" included in the fee are more of an inconvenience than adding any value to the stay. The food and beverage credit cannot be used for snack items available in the lobby "market" if you arrive late and the restaurant is closed. Last I checked snacks were food, silly me. There's something called a "Colorado Welcome Amenity" which includes food items from Colorado producers and is strangely not provided during the check-in process (or already in the room since everyone is forced to pay the fee). You can only get it from the restaurant which the poor host has to walk back to the kitchen to get, forcing other customers to wait.
Overall, we had a great stay at The Westin Denver Downtown. The location is fantastic—right in the heart of the city—and our luxury suite had a beautiful view of Union Station. We really appreciated that we were able to book the suite at a discounted rate through our wedding room block, and the chocolate-covered strawberries and champagne waiting for us from the staff were such a thoughtful touch! We also really enjoyed working with the room block coordinator. She was attentive, responsive, and kept us consistently updated on how many rooms had been booked. I also appreciated that we didn’t have to pay for any rooms that went unfilled, which made the process easy and low-stress. That said, a few of our guests did experience some maintenance issues—things like no hot water, no AC, or needing to switch rooms. In our own room, the faucets spat out water when first turned on, as if they hadn’t been used in a while. Our out-of-town guests were also charged a tourist fee, though it did come with nice perks like free coffee, beer from the bar, and local discounts. When we checked out, there was a leak in the lobby with buckets collecting dripping water, which caused an unpleasant smell—thankfully, most of our guests had already departed by then. Despite those hiccups, we were very happy with our overall experience. The location, comfortable rooms, and great service—especially from the room block coordinator—made The Westin Denver Downtown a wonderful choice for our wedding weekend.
I've only ever written one hotel review in my life before. That was a positive one. I have never written a negative review. This one could not be worst. Arrived at 3 PM. My wife and I arrived separately. Intended to check in, shower, go to Broncos Game. Rooms weren't ready. Ok. No explanation, but come 4 we were just told, "we'll let you know as soon as they are ready." No estimate. No apology. 5 PM--nothing. Game starts in an hour. By 5:15 we changed in the lobby rest rooms and headed to the game. At 6:45 (30 minutes into game) we get a text. It didn't say our room was ready. It asked how our room was. Answer: we don't have one. No response. At 7:45 we received a call that our room was ready. Turns out the Cincinnati Bengals had to used the hotel. They didn't check out until 3/4:-00. Basically, The hotel had double booked all of their rooms. This is not an honest or understandable mistake. This is the sleazy of practices. They knew rooms wouldn't be ready. They didn't notify us before hand (we'd have gone somewhere else), they didn't tell us at the time (they just kept saying, "we are making up the rooms"). they gave us no estimate. No explanation. No policy. Rude staff, even when we returned after the game to finally claim our room. No note from the manager. No mention of it in the morning. They wasted our time sitting around waiting for a room that wasn't coming before the game. We went to the game uncomfortable and grimy. We went later than we would have, had we known. And it was all 100% intention. The management of this hotel should be fired for a dozen different reasons. I would never trust this hotel again. You shouldn't, either.
Jess at the front desk was very friendly. Checked us in quickly and went over everything thoroughly. Pool was nice. Valet staff were engaging and friendly. Orlando at the bar was fun had a great personality. Can't wait to go back.
We had an amazing time visiting Denver at this hotel. The location was fantastic, and the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The valet service was the best I’ve ever experienced, hands down! We had a spacious patio room on the fourth floor. It featured dividers between the outside patios, but the overall space was shared with the other patio rooms on the floor. It was a great spot to enjoy coffee and get some work done in the morning, but just be aware, it’s not fully private. The room was spotlessly clean, and the bed lived up to Westin’s high standards. The air conditioning worked perfectly, and the dual shower heads were a nice touch. We also enjoyed relaxing by the pool. They had enjoyable background music and rolled out a bar in the afternoon to make the most of the time there. Overall, it was a great stay all around.
