Mountain Lodge Telluride offers a prime location in Telluride, known for its stunning views, friendly staff, and convenient access to the village and gondola. Recent reviews highlight exceptional service and a welcoming atmosphere, although concerns regarding dated facilities and parking have been raised. Overall, it’s a beloved spot setting a high bar for first-time visitors to the area.
My wife, daughter, and I stayed at this mountain resort, and from a location standpoint, it is top notch. Close to everything. Just a few minutes from the village, near the market, and with views that are simply unbeatable. The property itself is well maintained, rooms are small but quaint, and very comfortable. The pool area and hot tubs are perfect especially after a long day on the mountain. What truly stood out, though, was the customer service. From the moment we walked in, Cami, Paula, and Lyell at the front desk were outstanding throughout our entire stay. Always smiling, always attentive, and always willing to help. We also had a few rides with Angel and Miguel, and Alejandro from housekeeping was equally impressive. Every single person we interacted with made us feel genuinely welcomed and valued. I travel a lot, and it is rare to see this level of consistency across an entire team. They go above and beyond, and they truly make you feel like you are on vacation. That, to me, is what hospitality is all about. The pricing was very reasonable considering the location and quality. And the on call shuttle that will pick you up anywhere in the village at any time is a huge bonus. That alone adds so much convenience. For our first Telluride experience, this place set the bar high. Hands down, I would stay here again. Definitely a repeat.
We canceled our reservation due to extremely poor conditions and uncertainty at the resort — virtually no snow, roughly 10% (or less) of the mountain open, and lingering operational concerns following the recent labor dispute. Despite the circumstances, the property still charged us for a full night and would not offer any goodwill gesture, including a credit toward a future stay. What made this experience truly unacceptable was the process. It took nearly four hours just to cancel the reservation. The reservations agent we dealt with was condescending and dismissive, and at one point made it clear she had no interest in helping us find any reasonable solution. Because of this, we escalated the issue and were told a manager would contact us directly. That never happened. Instead, the manager simply punted us back to the same person we had already raised concerns about. To make matters worse, after all of this, we were told the hotel is now having difficulty processing refunds because they migrated to a new system and no longer have access to original payment details — meaning guests are being asked to jump through administrative hoops to resolve issues created by the hotel’s own internal changes. The most frustrating part is that this did not need to end badly. If they had offered even a simple credit for the one night, we would have happily rebooked in the future and likely stayed for multiple nights. Instead, we were met with rigidity, poor service, and a complete lack of accountability. Beautiful destination, but based on this experience, we will not be returning.
Mountain Lodge’s biggest strength is its location. It’s a five-minute walk to the market and free gondola, and about ten minutes to the heart of Mountain Village. Our suite had a well-equipped kitchen, a cozy fireplace, and a great view, which we appreciated. Unfortunately, we would not stay here again. The property feels dated and is made up of disconnected lodges, requiring you to walk outside to access your unit — not ideal in winter. The parking situation was also frustrating. While I don’t mind the $45/night fee, guests aren’t allowed to park their own cars even when many spots are open, which felt unnecessary, especially during a slow mid-December stay. The pool and hot tub were impractical in winter due to the outdoor walk. Until the property undergoes a major renovation, I would recommend looking at other options in Mountain Village. Ski access near Double Cabins was a nice plus, but not enough to outweigh the drawbacks.
As regular wedding photographers in the area, Mountain Lodge in Telluride and it was an incredible experience. The lodge combines rustic charm with sweeping alpine views, creating a setting that feels both elevated and deeply connected to nature. The warm wood interiors and cozy fireplaces make the indoor spaces cinematic, while the surrounding forests and mountains provide stunning outdoor backdrops for portraits and couple sessions. The staff were thoughtful, organized, and supportive throughout the day, which made the entire experience smooth for both vendors and guests. If you are considering a fall themed wedding, this location is truly unmatched, with golden aspens and mountain light that photograph beautifully. Mountain Lodge in Telluride is a wonderful choice for couples who want an authentic and unforgettable Colorado mountain celebration.
I usually do not take the time to write reviews, but reviews are so helpful when you are searching for a special place. Often times, the only reviews are from people that have complaints, but it is important to give good reviews as well, when you have a great experience. We absolutely loved our stay. From arrival to departure, and everything in between. The staff was so friendly and quick to respond to every ask. The food in the restaurant was top notch and absolutely delicious, with a wonderful staff. This property has views that are gorgeous. The rooms are so cozy, very clean and well appointed. Our room was a junior suite, with a kitchen, fireplace and a balcony with the most fabulous view. The gondola rides to and from Telluride were very special, with the gondola station being a close, four minute walk, or you can take the free lodge shuttle. I can't say enough wonderful things about our Thanksgiving week stay with our family, which included our grandchildren, who had such a great time as well. The market is close to the property and makes it so nice to bring whatever we needed to our rooms. It is only a four minute walk, but the free shuttle was wonderful and was always available quickly, upon request. We will definitely retirn to this special place!
We stayed for my brothers wedding. Beautiful beautiful! All the staff were top notch! We stayed in the San Sophia. Loved our room and a beautiful view! Very happy with our stay! The valet was quick and very helpful! Hope to come back as we hated to leave!! By our second day there was snow up on the mountains in our view!
